Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Tension gripped Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district on Sunday night after two vehicles allegedly carrying animal carcasses were intercepted and set on fire by suspected cow protection group members near Lakshmi Guda, under the Mailardevpally division. The incident sparked a wave of unrest and drew swift intervention from the police and fire services.
According to officials, the group allegedly attacked the drivers before setting the vehicles ablaze. Residents alerted the authorities, leading to immediate police deployment. Firefighters managed to control the flames before they spread further. The targeted area lies on the outskirts of Hyderabad, raising concern over growing communal friction.
In response, members of the Muslim community gathered outside the Mailardevpally Police Station, demanding action against the perpetrators and expressing concern over rising vigilantism. Top officials, including Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, reached the site to calm the situation.
The police confirmed that several individuals involved in the attack were taken into custody. Injured persons were shifted to nearby hospitals. Authorities have stepped up patrolling in the area to prevent further disturbances, and an investigation is underway. The situation has since been reported as under control.
